  • Dar la hora y las fechas, y usar bien in, on y at.

Whatqué / cuálWhat's your phone number?
WheredóndeWhere do you work?
WhencuándoWhen is the meeting?
WhoquiénWho is your manager?
Whypor quéWhy are you late?
HowcómoHow do you get to work?
Whichcuál (entre opciones)Which one do you prefer?
Whosede quiénWhose laptop is this?

Las combinaciones con How

  • How much is it? — ¿Cuánto cuesta? (también con cosas incontables: How much water?)
  • How many people are coming? — ¿Cuántos? (cosas contables)
  • How old are you? — ¿Cuántos años tienes?
  • How long is the flight? — ¿Cuánto dura?
  • How often do you travel? — ¿Con qué frecuencia?
  • How far is the airport? — ¿A qué distancia?

Recuerda la estructura de la lección anterior: con to be invertimos (Where is…?); con los demás verbos usamos do / does (Where do you…?).

"Why?" se responde con "Because…"

Why are you learning English? — Because I want a better job.

  • How much people are in the team?
  • How many people are in the team?
  • What many people are in the team?

People es contable, así que se usa How many.

2. Completa: "___ does the store open?" (¿A qué hora abre?)

  • Where
  • How
  • What time

  • 245 → two hundred and forty-five
  • 1,200,000 → one point two million
  • $19.99 → nineteen ninety-nine o nineteen dollars and ninety-nine cents
  • 1998 → nineteen ninety-eight (los años se dicen de dos en dos)
  • 2026 → twenty twenty-six
  • 2005 → two thousand and five

3. ¿Cómo se dice normalmente el año 1987?

  • One thousand nine hundred eighty-seven
  • Nineteen eighty-seven
  • Nineteen hundred eighty-seven

Pregunta: What time is it?

7:00seven o'clockIt's seven o'clock.
7:15seven fifteenIt's a quarter past seven.
7:30seven thirtyIt's half past seven.
7:45seven forty-fiveIt's a quarter to eight.
7:10seven tenIt's ten past seven.
7:50seven fiftyIt's ten to eight.

Para la mañana y la tarde: a.m. (antes del mediodía) y p.m. (después). The meeting is at 3 p.m. En contextos formales también: in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, at night.

No falla nunca.

Fechas y números ordinales

Para las fechas se usan los ordinales: first (1st), second (2nd), third (3rd), fourth (4th), fifth (5th), twelfth (12th), twentieth (20th), twenty-first (21st), thirty-first (31st).

  • Inglés de EE. UU.: March 5th, 2026 (mes primero).
  • Inglés británico: 5th March ("the fifth of March").

In, on, at: preposiciones de tiempo

PreposiciónSe usa con…Ejemplos
athoras y momentos exactosat 9 a.m., at noon, at night, at the weekend (británico)
ondías y fechason Monday, on July 4th, on my birthday, on the weekend (EE. UU.)
inmeses, años, estaciones, partes del díain May, in 2026, in summer, in the morning

Truco visual: de lo más pequeño a lo más grande → at (punto) → on (día) → in (periodo). Y sin preposición con next, last, this, every: See you next Monday.

4. Completa: "The conference is ___ June 12th ___ 10 a.m."

  • in / at
  • on / at
  • at / on

Fecha concreta → on; hora → at.

5. ¿Cuál es correcta?

  • See you on next Friday.
  • See you next Friday.
  • See you in next Friday.

Con next, last, this y every no se usa preposición.

Diálogo: agendar una reunión

  • A: Hi Tom, when are you free this week?
  • B: I'm free on Wednesday afternoon. How about three thirty?
  • A: Three thirty works for me. How long is the meeting?
  • B: About forty-five minutes. Where do you want to meet?
  • A: Let's meet online. I'll send you the link.

  4. Haces al menos dos preguntas.
Ver un ejemplo

Hi Mr. Brown, I'm Laura Gómez, and I'm the sales coordinator at Café Aurora. I usually work from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday. Are you free on Tuesday, March 10th? How about 11 a.m.? The meeting is about thirty minutes long. What's the best phone number to call you? Thank you!

Resumen

  • Wh-questions: what, where, when, who, why, how, which, whose + las combinaciones con how.
  • 13–19 llevan el acento al final; 30–90, al inicio. Los años se leen de dos en dos.
  • Hora digital (seven thirty) o tradicional (half past seven).
  • at hora · on día y fecha · in mes, año, estación.
