Voz pasiva y estilo indirecto (reported speech)
- Activa: Our team developed the app.
- Pasiva: The app was developed in 2024.
Forma: to be (en el tiempo que corresponda) + participio. Si quieres mencionar al autor, usa by: The app was developed by our team.
| Tiempo | Voz pasiva |
|---|---|
| Presente simple | English is spoken in many countries. |
| Presente continuo | The office is being renovated. |
| Pasado simple | The order was shipped yesterday. |
| Present perfect | Your payment has been received. |
| Futuro | The results will be announced on Monday. |
| Con modales | The form must be signed by the manager. |
Muchas frases españolas con "se" se traducen con pasiva: "se habla inglés" → English is spoken; "se construyó en 1990" → it was built in 1990; "se enviarán los resultados" → the results will be sent.
1. "Su pedido ha sido enviado." ¿Cómo lo dices?
Present perfect pasivo: has been + participio.
2. "The new policy ___ next month." (será implementada)
Futuro pasivo: will be + participio.
- I was asked to prepare the budget. — Me pidieron preparar el presupuesto.
- We were told the meeting was cancelled.
- It is expected that sales will grow. / Sales are expected to grow.
- I'm going to get my car repaired. — Voy a llevar el auto a reparar (get / have something done: lo hace otra persona).
| Palabras exactas | Estilo indirecto |
|---|---|
| "I am tired." | She said (that) she was tired. |
| "We work from home." | They said they worked from home. |
| "I'm calling the client." | He said he was calling the client. |
| "I sent the file." | She said she had sent the file. |
| "I've finished." | He said he had finished. |
| "I'll call you." | She said she would call me. |
| "I can help." | He said he could help. |
También cambian los pronombres y las referencias de tiempo y lugar: today → that day, tomorrow → the next day, yesterday → the day before, here → there.
Si lo que dijo sigue siendo verdad ahora, el retroceso es opcional: She said she lives in Quito. es correcto si todavía vive allí.
3. El cliente dijo: "I will pay on Friday." ¿Cómo lo reportas?
Will pasa a would en estilo indirecto.
Say vs. tell
- say + lo que se dijo: She said that the price was too high.
- tell + a quién se lo dijo: She told me that the price was too high.
Error frecuente: "She said me…" → She told me… o She said to me…
4. "My manager ___ me that I got the promotion."
- "Where do you work?" → He asked me where I worked. (no "where did I work")
- "Are you available?" → She asked if I was available. (sí/no → if o whether)
- "Please send the report." → She asked me to send the report.
- "Don't be late." → He told us not to be late.
5. "What time does the meeting start?" — reportado:
- Ana: "The campaign will start in May."
- Luis: "We have already hired two designers."
- Ana: "Can you prepare the budget by Friday?"
- Director: "Don't share the numbers outside the team."
Ver una solución
Ana said that the campaign would start in May. Luis told us that two designers had already been hired. Ana asked me if I could prepare the budget by Friday. The director told us not to share the numbers outside the team. The final plan will be presented next week.
Resumen
- Pasiva = to be + participio, en cualquier tiempo; by para el autor.
- Estilo indirecto: los tiempos retroceden (am → was, will → would, did → had done).
- say algo; tell a alguien.
- Preguntas reportadas sin auxiliar: asked where I worked; órdenes con to: asked me to…
